Diyarbakır is a millennia-old open-air museum with its giant basalt walls and the Hevsel Gardens, both on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Ten-Eyed Bridge over the Tigris, historic caravanserais and the Grand Mosque are city icons, while vineyards and the riverbanks offer nature breaks. Liver kebab, stuffed ribs and its famous giant watermelons are local flavours.
