Located in the rural areas of Mersin, the shining trade and tourism center of the Mediterranean, Karageçit Camping offers a wonderful alternative for those who want to escape the city and connect with nature. With the transportation convenience provided by the Çukurova highway infrastructure, the facility is strategically located, 85 kilometers away from Adana, reachable in 1.5 hours (by car), 290 kilometers away from the gastronomic metropolis Gaziantep, reachable in 3 hours (by car), and approximately 5-6 hours (by car) from the capital Ankara, which is 470 kilometers away, descending into the Taurus forests. These features make the facility an effortless and extremely practical weekend route for nature lovers.
The facility is established on the route of the famous Kadıncık Valley in the rural area of Tarsus Boğazpınar, known as the lungs of the city, completely away from the crowded center of Mersin or its concretized beaches. The facility is located about 70 kilometers away from the main center of Mersin. Although the roads are asphalted, they are winding due to the natural conditions of the forested area. Since public transportation services like municipal buses are not provided to the area, using a personal vehicle or a rental vehicle is almost essential for hassle-free access to the campsite. For guests without a personal vehicle, the most practical logistical solution would be to arrange a private transfer from Tarsus Bus Station.
This area, which covers the well-known difficulties of camping culture and stands out as a “Boutique Forest Retreat”, promises comfort to its guests in the heart of nature. Unlike the primitive conditions in tents, clean indoor bathrooms and uninterrupted hot water infrastructure come at the top of the standards that guests appreciate the most. The protected accommodation areas provide safety for families against the variable weather of the Taurus Mountains; the main reason holidaymakers prefer the facility is that they can freely enjoy barbecuing with their own meats by the riverbank verandas, provided they do not disturb the environment.
However, there are some practical realities that must be accepted before making a reservation. Due to the deep canyon structure of the valley, phone signals may occasionally drop. Additionally, the harsh Taurus cold at night can surprise unprepared visitors who venture near the water. Finally, the possibility of encountering harmless wildlife, the natural inhabitants of this pristine ecosystem, should be considered a normal part of nature tourism.
