Located on the shores of the Gökova Bay in Muğla, which is a world-renowned tourism paradise of the Aegean, Akyaka Forest Camp is in a very advantageous position thanks to its developed road connections to major cities. The facility is approximately 225 kilometers from İzmir, and the journey takes about 2.5 hours (by car) via the Aydın-Muğla highway. For nature lovers coming from İstanbul, the distance is around 640 kilometers, and it can be reached in 6.5 - 7 hours (by car) using the Osmangazi Bridge and the İzmir-Aydın highway. From Antalya, there is a distance of 310 kilometers, requiring a journey of 3.5 - 4 hours (by car) via the Korkuteli-Yatağan route.
This unique campsite, located approximately 28 kilometers away from the center of Muğla, is situated in an isolated coastal area within a vast pine forest, away from the bustling city center. Access to the area offers great flexibility thanks to the smooth asphalt roads descending from the Sakar Pass, whether using a personal vehicle or a rental car. For guests without a car, regularly departing Akyaka minibuses from Muğla Bus Station or the center provide logistical convenience, as the campsite is within walking distance to the town center.
The accommodation infrastructure in nature is quite developed. In this facility under the giant pine trees, in addition to traditional tents, stone houses and luxury stone apartment options are offered. These structures feature sparkling clean private bathrooms, uninterrupted hot water infrastructure, and heating/cooling systems with split air conditioning. One of the biggest reasons guests prefer this place is the ability to have a barbecue next to their designated natural wooden verandas in specially designated areas to avoid fire risks.
However, there are some practical risks associated with staying in this natural wonder by the Gökova Bay. Despite the Mediterranean climate, due to the dense forest texture, the sudden intense humidity and chill that can occur at night require preparation even in the summer months. Additionally, it is essential to be cautious against mosquitoes and insects due to the dense tree cover. Because of the steep paths leading down to the sea and the rocky roads opening to the coves, it is critically important for guests to come equipped with appropriate gear for natural conditions to ensure a perfect holiday.
